Moral Stories for Kids: A Little Hungry Girl

This is a heart-touching short story for kids. It shows how kindness and compassion can turn into true happiness.

Pooja was very hungry. Her family had started early in the morning for a picnic. Breakfast was missed, and every minute of hunger felt like an hour. She kept asking her parents to stop somewhere.

After almost an hour of driving, they finally saw a small restaurant on the highway. Her father smiled and said, “Eat well, we still have three more hours to go.”

As they entered, Pooja noticed something outside. A beggar was standing near the garbage with a tiny girl, hardly two years old. The child was searching through empty biscuit and chocolate wrappers, hoping to find even a crumb.

Pooja tugged her father’s hand. “Papa, she looks as hungry as me.” Her father nodded. “Yes, it seems so.”

Without a second thought, Pooja whispered, “Can I give her my food?” Her father was surprised. “But you are also hungry,” he reminded gently.

“Yes, Papa,” she said softly. “But I can share half. I could not bear my hunger even for a short time. She is so small. How can she?”

Her father’s eyes filled with pride. He agreed, and together they gave the little girl food. The child ate quickly, her tiny face glowing with joy.

Pooja smiled too. Her hunger still remained, but her heart felt light. Watching her daughter’s compassion, her father felt a happiness he had not known before. The family’s picnic began not just with food, but with a memory they would treasure forever.

Moral of the Story
